Mount Tyson Piggeries is a wholly owned and
operated Australian Company with farms at Westbrook and Mount
Tyson near Toowoomba in Southern Queensland, with a joint capacity of 1,000
plus sows, farrow to finish. Annual turn off is around 20,000
bacon pigs plus some 5,000 pigs for the pork markets.
The main Mount Tyson Farm is located 38 Klm
South West from the city of Toowoomba and in close proximity to
the townships of Mount Tyson, Oakey, Pittsworth, Southbrook.
Toowoomba, a major Queensland city of some 150,000 residents,
provides the surrounding area with all major services including
3 private and State Hospitals, private and State schooling
through to University, training in all disciplines, heavy and
light industry and supporting infrastructure of the highest
quality.
The surrounding townships together with the city
of Toowoomba, all with in easy driving distance, provide a
pleasant, functional and enjoyable base from which staff of all
disciplines can be drawn. The immediate vicinity houses a modern
Abattoir, sale yards and several major feed millers.

While the main business of Mount Tyson Piggeries
is the production of high quality pork, the company is
extensively involved in the general farming sector through close
association with its various contractors for the production of
necessary inputs such as grain, bedding straw, finished pig and
cattle feed.
The piggery complex incorporates the
latest
technology and husbandry techniques to ensure maximum cost
efficient production whilst maintaining the very highest
animal
welfare strategies.
Piglets from 20 days of age through to sale, are
all housed, unhindered in natural straw based accommodation of
the very highest standard.
Computer monitoring and extensive ‘early alarm
notification’ systems ensure that each group of animals has
unconstrained access to the correct feed for age at all stages
of their growth.
